Swapped out the stock wheels and tires for dedicated set of winters. I ordered a set of 19x8 Monte Titano’s in dark silver with a set of 255/40R19 Yokohama Ice Guards.
The torque specs for S550 Mustang wheels is 150lb - wow, quite the torque spec. My wimpy old torq ue wrench didn’t go to 150, so it was off to AutoZone to get a bigly wrench that would do up to 250lbs. It’s just money, right?
I did learn that if I had a flat and needed to remove a wheel, 150lbs is a lot to undo, especially with the stock little spare tire wrench. I may go to Home Depot and pick up a 2' pipe to keep in the trunk as a breaker bar (and Zombie Apocalypse weapon - you never know!)
I also forgot to order the TPMS reset tool. So now I need to order one of those. It’s just money, right?
Potato pics for your viewing pleasure.
P. S. I want a set of Steeda springs and shocks to improve the handling and give it a better stance. The stock non-performance pack ride is a bit soft. It’s just money, right?
P.P.S. Yes, it’s dirty and needs a wash

I replaced
the factory lug nut
wrench
with a cheap HF breaker bar in my Ford Transit. It specs
the same 150 ft/lbs.

Great idea - thanks! I just might do the same.

oh yeah, springs and shocks - if you got the money, do it. I swapped in performance lowering springs and shocks on my 98 Forester. Improvement was worth it.
TPMS tool - $25-30? I got it for the Transit. Worth it. My Transit and your
Mustang are starting to sound like the same cars.

Yea, I’m thinking that will be a good late next summer spend. I’m not mechanically inclined enough to do it myself so I’m saving up for the labor costs as well.
Which are at least as much, i f not more than the springs & shocks themselves.

The torque specs on Subaru lug nuts tend to be around 70-85 ft-lbs. I do the same though - an 18" breaker bar with the correct deep well socket attached (19mm in my case) - because I’m lazy and like mechanical advantage.

I don’t know what kind of IRS these mustangs run, but usually rear struts and springs are easy even for a novice (and if you’re of the mindset that spring compressors are only sketchy if you use them sketchily). Maybe do the rear yourself and pay someone to screw with pulling the fronts? Worst case scenario you start on the back, nope out, put the wheels back on and spend what you had already planned on spending? Either way springs and shocks transform most cars imo

Yea, I think the breaker bar in the car is going to be required. I damn near gave myself a hernia trying to take them off with a 12" wrench.

Not a bad idea - I might give that a go next summer. Thanks!
I did have springs on my GTI and really liked how it looked and handled .
